EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — It’s Mutt Monday at KTSM!
This week, our friends from El Paso Animal Services brought Pogo for us to meet and hang out with.

To celebrate, El Paso Animal Services is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, to show off their new center.
Animal Services tells us that the $8.9 million renovation project has transformed the West El Paso facility into a state-of-the-art adoption center to create a comfortable environment for the community and pets.
Renovations to the center include the following:
- Redesigned living spaces for animals
- New kennels and cat exhibit areas
- New restrooms for visitors and staff
- Installation of a modern HVAC system
- Comprehensive electrical upgrades
- Plumbing improvements throughout the facility
- New meeting, storage, laundry, locker, and feeding rooms
- ADA-compliant amenities for accessibility
- Expanded parking for staff and visitors
- Construction of a new walking trail for pets and adopters
- Installation of landscaping and an irrigation system
During the event, Animal Services says they will be holding free pet adoptions all day, with the first 50 adoptions getting a free go-home packet sponsored by Borderland Rescue Fund. They also say there will be merchandise giveaways and fun activities for kids.
