EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 38-year-old man was arrested on Monday, Sept. 22, in connection with the murder of another man earlier this year outside of a bar in Central El Paso, according to El Paso Police.
Police say Terrence Mathews, 38, was arrested in Alabama on a murder warrant after Damian Arce, 31, was shot and killed outside of Chit Chat Bar on June 1.
As we previously reported, at 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, patrol officers were conducting a bar check at the Chit Chat Bar, 4808 Dyer St., when a gunshot was heard outside the business.
Upon investigating, officers found Arce with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said.
Police said the initial investigation revealed that Arce was involved in an altercation with another man and, for unknown reasons, was shot.
Mathews was extradited to El Paso and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under $1 million bond.
