(The Hill) – The Department of Homeland Security appears to have removed a social media post which featured a clip of comedian Theo Von, after Von complained that he did not consent to be featured in a video touting the agency’s deportation efforts.
In the video, posted by DHS on Tuesday, Von is shown looking into the camera and saying, “I heard you got deported, dude. Bye.”
The short clip then shows footage of ICE officials arresting and deporting immigrants in the country illegally and telling those who are still in the country to “leave now.”
“Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this,” Von wrote in a social media post responding to the video. “I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos.”
Von continued, “when it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot [sic] more nuanced than this video allows. Bye!”
Responding to a fan on X, Von added, “It’s crazy to me that they would think this is OK. What if someone attacks me tomorrow because they think I’m some final boss of deportatins [sic] or somethin.”
As of late Wednesday, the DHS appeared to have removed the video from its social media channels. A representative for the agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Von, who also hosts the “This Past Weekend” podcast, often interviews celebrities, musicians and other prominent personalities, but he has not shied away from weighing in on political and cultural issues in the past. President Trump and Vice President JD Vance have appeared on separate episodes of his podcast, as has Bernie Sanders.
Von also attended the inauguration of President Trump in Jan. 2025, where his folding chair broke underneath him.
