EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit issued 72 citations in just one hour during a special enforcement operation.
The special operation took place Thursday morning, Sept. 25 along Solano Drive.
Of the 72 traffic citations, 21 were issued to motorists who were speeding, 21 to drivers operating a motor vehicle without proper registration and nine for driving without proof of insurance.
Other citations issued during the operation included:
- 8 for no driver’s license
- 7 for using a cell phone while driving
- 3 for not wearing a seatbelt
- 3 for miscellaneous traffic infractions
The traffic enforcement operation, held along North Solano Drive, began at 8 a.m. Thursday and lasted about one hour.
Similar traffic enforcement operations will likely be held in the coming weeks, Las Cruces Police said.
