KTSM News – City’s chief military officer resigns day before arrest

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso’s chief military officer resigned from his post the day before he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a family member.

The City of El Paso confirmed that Paul Albright, the City’s chief military officer, submitted his resignation on Aug. 28.

The City said his resignation became effective on Sept. 25, but he utilized accrued vacation time up “to the conclusion of his employment.”

According to jail records obtained by KTSM, Albright was arrested on Sept. 4 and charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member. The date of the alleged incident was Aug. 29, the day after he submitted his resignation letter.

He posted a $2,500 surety bond and was released the same day as his arrest.

The City’s chief military officer acts as a liaison between City leaders, military members, and veterans to address military- or veteran-related issues.
