KTSM News – First weekend of October brings Disney on Ice, spooky stories, jazz to the Borderland

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — This weekend, take the family to enjoy some magic on ice, dancing, or read spooky stories this first weekend of October. Here are some of the events happening this weekend for KTSM 9’s ¿Que Pasa?

Disney on Ice

Hey moms, dads, tios, tias, even grandma and grandpa, are you ready for some Disney magic? Disney on Ice glides into the El Paso County Coliseum Wednesday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 5. Tickets start at just $27, so grab your Mickey ears and get ready for the show!

Border Fold Festival

Next up, the unforgettable sounds of Mariachi Los Camperos! They’ll headline the 10th annual El Paso Border Folk Festival at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, inside the El Paso Convention Center. Don’t forget your charro boots and sombrero!

Jazz and Blues Fiesta

Want to get away? Just a short drive to the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico has so much to offer!

Head to Mesilla Valley Plaza for the 23rd annual Jazz and Blues Fiesta at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, at noon, or Sunday, Oct. 5, from 1 to 7 p.m. It’s music you won’t want to miss!

IEOTC Foto Fiesta

As part of the El Paso Art Association’s International Eye of the Camera event, advanced and beginner photographers are invited to take part in the Foto Fiesta! In parallel to the Worldwide Photowalk, enjoy taking photos of El Paso from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, as the group will begin and end the fiesta at the PEEP Collaborative, located at 1400 Texas Ave. Additionally, the group will shoot Segundo Barrio, East of Campbell, to Cotton and Magoffin from Campbell to Cotton.

Since October is the spookiest month of the year, Las Cruces libraries are hosting the Spooky Challenge. Watch terrifying films, dive into chilling stories, and you might even be crowned the most frightening winner!
