Alexis Reyes, 26, was charged with a collision involving damage to a vehicle $200 or more, with a $1,000 bond.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the 18600 block of Alameda Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a black Chevrolet Suburban that had been struck by a train. The SUV was found unoccupied, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation revealed that the SUV attempted a U-turn at an undesignated railroad crossing, resulting in the crash. Damage to the train was estimated at approximately $4,500, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to exercise extreme caution near railroad tracks and to only use designated crossings for safety.
