EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso is hosting a “feedback forum” to identify areas of improvement and increase transparency for its procurement practices.
The Construction Procurement Feedback Forum will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the El Paso Convention Center.
The meeting will serve as a forum for open dialogue between City staff and the contracting community to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in the City’s procurement practices, the City said in a news release.
“These conversations will help us build a stronger partnership with our local contractors. We want to hear directly from construction companies responding to our solicitation,” said Claudia A. Garcia, purchasing and strategic sourcing director. “Based on their experience, we want to know how we can improve our current systems for the benefit of our community while following procurement laws and regulations. This forum will have four sessions where we will be talking about main elements of construction procurements.”
Breakout sessions are as follows:
- Session 1: Construction Contract
This session will cover drawings/design, specifications, and contract general conditions in a construction solicitation.
- Session 2: Online Bidding System
This session will cover the online bidding system.
- Session 3: Evaluation Factors and Experience
This session will cover the experience requirements and the selection of evaluation factors for construction solicitations.
- Session 4: Construction Requirements
This session will cover the main requirements for construction procurements.
During these four sessions, contractors will be invited to provide feedback on the breakout session topics, fostering a collaborative approach, the City said.
