KTSM News – TxDOT closures that may affect your commute for week of Oct. 10

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Here is a list of road closures for the week starting Oct. 10, 2025, as provided by the Texas Department of Transportation.

TxDOT also wants to remind El Paso area motorists about two 48-hour road closures that are coming up in the near future.

Interstate 10 West will be closed at Mesa from 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. The same area will be closed Oct. 25-27.

I-10 Widening West

Sunday, Oct.12 – Thursday, Oct. 17 (As needed due to rain.)

9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Nightly)

  • North Desert between Mesa and Redd closed
  • North Desert at Thorn closed
  • Business Access Driveways along North Desert closed

Detour: Traffic will use Doniphan to Redd to access North Desert and I-10; Thorn will access Redd; and Business access along North
Desert will utilize Mesa and Remcon.

Crews will be hauling off Portable Concrete Traffic Barrier and will be milling on North Desert.

Thursday, Oct. 16 – Friday, Oct. 17

9am – 4pm (Off-Peak Closure)

  • IH 10 EB Entrance Ramp between Transmountain and Artcraft Rd. closed

Crews will be demolishing and hauling of existing riprap and crews will be conducting concreting operations for drill shaft foundation.

Monday, Oct. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (as needed)

  • North- and South Desert between Vinton and Thorn alternate lane closures
  • Transmountain westbound exit ramp closed

Crews will be working on electrical and miscellaneous construction work.

Saturday, Oct. 18 through Monday, Oct. 20

5 a.m. to 5 a.m. 48 HOUR WEEKEND CLOSURE

  • I-10 EB at Redd Rd. closed
  • I-10 WB Left lane from Mesa to Redd closed

Detour: Traffic will exit at Redd and take South Desert to Mesa.

Crews will be removing Portable Traffic Concrete Barrier, striping, painting Thorn Bridge/Rail, and opening EB ramp 10 and the existing EB Mesa on ramp.

Saturday, Oct. 25 through Monday, Oct. 27

5 a.m. to 5 a.m. 48 HOUR WEEKEND CLOSURE

  • I-10 WB at Mesa closed

Detour: Traffic will exit at Mesa and continue to North Desert through the Mesa, Thorn, and Redd Rd. signals and re-enter I-10 after Redd Rd.

Crews will be removing portable traffic concrete barrier, striping, and opening WB off-ramp 10.

Artcraft

Monday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (as needed)

  • Artcraft east- and westbound between New Mexico State Line and Doniphan alternate lane closures

Crews will be performing illumination install and wall installation.

  • South Desert between Clarkstone and Blue Sky alternate lane closures
  • North Desert between Helen of Troy and Northern Pass alternate lane closures

Crews will be loading and unloading material and equipment.

Tuesday, Oct. 14

9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Night)

  • Westside and Artcraft south intersection closed

Detour: Use Transmountain exit, continue on South Desert, enter ramp after Artcraft.

Crews will be working on new traffic signal installation.

Continuous Closure Until further notice (Approx. 5 Months)

Wednesday, Oct. 29 (Tentative Start Date)

  • I-10 eastbound on-ramp between Transmountain and Artcraft

Crews will be working on drill shaft foundation, column, and pier cap installation.

Continuous Closure Until further notice (Approx. 1 Month)

Tuesday, Nov. 10 (Tentative Start Date)

  • Upper Valley east- and westbound 1-Lane configuration

Crews will be relocating sanitary sewer.

Borderland Expressway Phase 2

Monday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 17

7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • McCombs north- and southbound between US-54 and Stan Roberts alternate lane closures
  • Stan Roberts east- and westbound between McCombs and Martin Luther King alternate lane closures
  • US-54 east- and westbound between McCombs and Mesquite Hills.
  • Martin Luther King northbound between Stan Roberts and New Mexico State line lane closure

Crews will be working on earthwork, constructing construction entrances/exits, and preparing right-of-way.

Full Weekend Closure

Saturday, Oct. 18 through Monday, Oct. 20

24/7, from 4 a.m. on 10/18/25 to 6 a.m. on 10/20/25

  • McCombs north- and southbound between US-54 and Stan Roberts closed

Local traffic will be allowed to access residential neighborhood and golf course

Detour: Traffic will be detoured using US-54, Martin Luther King, and Stan Roberts

Crews will be installing drainage structure.

Mesa Safety Lighting

Monday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Mesa west- and eastbound between De Leon and Sunland Park left lane closed
  • Mesa west- and eastbound between Mesa and Champions left lane closed
  • Mesa west- and eastbound between Mesa and Resler left lane closed

Crews will be working on lighting improvements.

Guardrail Repair

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday, October 13

  • I-10 eastbound between Piedras and Copia right lane and off-ramp at Copia closed

Tuesday, Oct. 14

  • US-85 (Paisano) westbound between Eucalyptus and Coles left lane closed

Wednesday, October 15

  • I-10 eastbound at Viscount on-ramp closed

Thursday, Oct. 16

  • I-10 eastbound between Chelsea and Geronimo right lane and off-ramp at Geronimo closed

Miscellaneous Concrete

Monday, Oct. 10

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • US-85 (Paisano) eastbound between Executive and Rhulen right lane closed

Crews will be repairing sidewalk.

Tuesday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • US-54 northbound between Alameda and Montana left lane closed
  • US-54 southbound between Altura and Montana left lane closed

Crew will be repairing concrete traffic barrier.

Monday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Loop 375 (Transmountain) between Tom Mays Park and Mile Marker 17 right lane closed

Crews will be working on culvert.

Continuous Closure Until further notice 24/7

Monday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 20

  • Westmoreland between Gateway West and Viscount right lane closed
  • Traffic access closed

Crews will be repairing concrete.

Road Repair

Tuesday, Oct. 14

  • US-54 West between Loop 375 (Transmountain) and Diana right lane closed
  • Entrance ramp between Loop 375 (Transmountain) and US-54 West closed

Wednesday, Oct.15

  • US-54 West at Hercules right lane closed

Thursday, Oct. 16

  • US-54 West at Fred Wilson right lane and exit closed

Maintenance

Monday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 17

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • US-85 (Paisano) southbound at Executive intersection right lane closed

Crews will be working on the drain.

  • Loop 375 between Tom Mays Park and Paseo Del Norte right lane closed

Crews will be working on erosion.

Loop 375 Widening Project

Saturday, Oct. 11

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Loop 375 northbound main lane closure between Zaragoza Entrance Ramp and Pan American Entrance Ramp

Crews will be working on PCTB removal and pavement markings.

Monday, Oct. 13, to Friday, Oct. 17

Nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Americas Avenue (frontage road) north- and southbound alternating lane closures between Pan American Drive and Zaragoza Road (Port of Entry).

Crews will be painting MSE walls.

Monday Oct. 13, to Friday Oct. 17

Daily, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Loop 375 north- and southbound alternating main lane closure between North Loop Bridge and South Americas Bridge.

Crews working on pouring concrete riprap at median.

Monday, Oct. 13

9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (overnight)

  • Loop 375 northbound main lane closure between Zaragoza Exit Ramp and North Loop Entrance Ramp

Crews will be pouring concrete riprap and clean up.

I-10 Landscape & Aesthetic Project

Monday, Oct. 13 to Friday, Oct. 17

Daily, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Gateway West Boulevard left lane closure before Lee Trevino Drive
  • Gateway West Boulevard at Zaragoza Road left turnaround lane closure
  • Gateway East Boulevard at Zaragoza Road left turnaround lane closure
  • I-10 eastbound right lane and shoulder closure at Lee Trevino Drive

Crews will be placing concrete riprap, welding steel panels, placing concrete riprap and placing light fixtures.

Preventive Maintenance Project

Saturday, Oct. 11

6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • US 85 (Paisano Drive) west- and eastbound alternating lane closures between Stanton Street and SL 375 JCT

Crews will be performing mobile operations, multiple and alternating lane closures on replacing roadway pavement markings.

Sunday, Oct. 12 to Thursday, Oct. 16

Nightly, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • US 54 north- and southbound alternating lane closures between Hondo Pass Drive and Texas/New Mexico State Line
  • FM 2316 (McRae Boulevard) alternating lane closures between US 62/180 and I-10
  • US 85 (Paisano Drive) west- and eastbound alternating lane closures between Stanton Street and SL 375 JCT
  • SH 20 (Doniphan Drive) west- and eastbound alternating lane closures between Mesa Street and Lindbergh Avenue
  • US 62 (Paisano Dr) west- and eastbound alternating lane closures between Stanton Street and Alameda Avenue JCT

Crews will be performing mobile operations, multiple and alternating lane closures on replacing roadway pavement markings.
