KTSM News – Las Cruces homeowner injured after trying to put out garage fire

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Las Cruces homeowner was injured after they tried to put out a fire in their garage on Tuesday, Oct. 21, according to the Las Cruces Fire Department.

The Fire Department says they were called to a house fire just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the 4600 block of Mesita Street.

Crews arrived and found the garage of the two-story home fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to extinguish the fire and contain most of the damage to the garage of the home.

The homeowner attempted to extinguish the fire prior to the Fire Department’s arrival and did receive minor injuries. The homeowner was taken to a hospital, where they were treated.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
