EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Gadsden Independent School District Superintendent Travis Dempsey announced his retirement on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Dempsey announced his retirement through the school district’s Facebook page, stating that he will retire as superintendent on Jan. 1, 2026.
Dempsey has served as the school district’s superintendent for the past eight years and listed the achievements the school district has achieved.




Through out the years, Gadsden ISD was able to grow its pre-k classrooms, secure funding for a brand new pre-k center at Riverside Elementary, implement a complete K-12 dual language track, provide chrome books for students, reach the highest graduation rates in the school district’s history, expand STEM opportunities for every grade level through partnerships with Lego and drone learning experiences, secure funding for complete reconstruction of Gadsden Middle School, increase campus security and staff training, and earn the highest rating in all audits, Dempsey said.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the students, staff, and communities that make up Gadsden ISD. You are the heart of the district, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to be part of something so incredibly special.”
