EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — As Thanksgiving Day fast approaches, KTSM is taking you behind the scenes on what it takes to put together the incredible floats you see every year during the annual Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade.
We continue with the Once Upon a Time, where all the teachers of the year from every school district will be riding on this float.
“A very cool story about this one is this set behind me was actually used over 40 years ago, for a stage set for the El Paso ballet,” said Joe Daubach, special events director for the Sun Bowl Association.

The theme to this float, Once Upon a Time, fits this year’s theme quite nicely.
“Childhood Dreams is where everything is born. And where does it first start? Story time,” said Daubach. “Back when kids are in kindergarten, grade school, they see these stories, and they just let their imagination go wild.”
He goes on to say that this float will definitely make you feel like you are taking a magic carpet ride through the movie “Aladdin.”
“We will have a magic carpet on here for the teachers to stand on,” he said.
Don’t forget, KTSM is your home for the holidays, and we are airing the parade live at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27. We will also be streaming it on KTSM+.
