KTSM News – Docs: Man shoots ex-wife’s boyfriend for ‘vandalizing’ his truck during Fabens concert

Posted on October 24, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 39-year-old man was arrested after he shot and injured his ex-wife’s boyfriend for allegedly vandalizing his truck on Saturday, Oct. 18, during a concert in Fabens, according to court documents.

Man arrested for shooting at concert in Fabens, sheriff says

Orlando Alfonso Corona, 39, was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, under a $200,000 bond.

Shortly after 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a concert and off-roading event at Tequilas Center, located at 4950 S. Fabens Carlsbad Rd., about gunshots being fired. At the time, no victims were reported or identified by event security or by deputies, according to court documents.

Minutes later, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a black GMC Sierra pickup truck for a traffic violation at 4900 S. Fabens Carlsbad Rd. Deputies met with the driver, later identified as Corona, and asked if he had any weapons, to which Corona stated, “They told me to put it in the back.”

Deputies further asked Corona for confirmation that he had a weapon, and Corona said, “Yeah, it’s in there. It’s because they told me to take the truck out of Tequilas, they vandalized it, and I shot the guy who vandalized it.” Deputies secured the weapon and detained Corona.

Just minutes before 10 p.m., Corona’s ex-wife and her boyfriend arrived at the Socorro Fire Department, 11440 N. Loop Dr., in a Can-Am ATV. Socorro FD treated the victim for a gunshot wound to his left thigh and another gunshot wound to his left arm, which was broken. He was then taken to the hospital for further treatment, according to court documents.

As detectives from the Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, they met with multiple witnesses on the scene. One of the witnesses described the person who was shooting as a “heavy-set” Hispanic male wearing a baseball cap, a checkered shirt, jeans, and boots.

The witness recalled seeing the suspect holding a black handgun and shooting at another man, who was attempting to hide underneath vehicles as he was being followed by the suspect. The witness also described the suspect ducking down, looking, and shooting underneath vehicles, according to court documents.

Detectives then met with Corona, who explained that his ex-wife had not shown up to their child’s football game earlier and that he knew she was lying about the reason she would not attend. Corona said he knew his ex-wife was going to the off-road area and decided to go, where he eventually saw her with another man.

Corona said that at some point during the evening, he saw that there were wet marks on the hood of his truck, which led him to get his handgun from it. As he walked away from his truck, he heard a “loud hissing sound,” and when he turned around, he saw the victim standing at the rear passenger tire of his truck and was “actively puncturing his tire,” according to court documents.

Court documents state that Corona called out to the victim, who then ran away from the truck. Corona then pulled out his handgun and fired three or four shots at the victim as he ran away and attempted to hide behind and under a white Jeep.

Security eventually arrived and told Corona that he had to leave. Corona said he put his handgun in the backseat of his truck and left.
