KTSM News – Freeze watch for many towns

Posted on October 28, 2025

A Freeze Watch is posted for Wednesday night though Thursday morning for many towns in New Mexico and Hudspeth County, TX. El Paso is NOT likely to freeze, but we could get down to 34 in the valley Thursday morning. Las Cruces will get very close as well with a low of 34.

Here’s your exclusive 9-Hour Forecast for Wednesday with your 9-Day Forecast below.

TONIGHT:   KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to a significant cold front and a very cold morning on Thursday.  Overnight, the east-NE winds will pick up and gust near 30 mph.  This will cause much stronger gusts on the west slopes of the mountains.  Skies will be clear, and the low will drop to 45.

FORECAST:  Wednesday will be sunny and significantly colder with a high of 67.  After such warm days, prepare by dressing in layers.  The north-NE winds will range from 10-30 mph, especially in the morning, and will feel pretty chilly at times.  Thursday will start out clear and quite cold with a low of 39 at the airport, 34 in the valley.  Many parts of the Borderland are under a Freeze Watch for Thursday morning as well.  The afternoon will be sunny with light winds and a high of 73. Friday is Halloween and will be a fairly warm day with a high of 81.  Enjoy mostly sunny skies with west winds that will pick up and gust near 30 mph, strongest on the east slopes. Saturday will be sunny with cooler wind gusts as a cool front moves in.  The NW winds will gust near 30 mph, and the high will drop to 77.  Sunday will be sunny and warmer with a high of 82.
