EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Authorities in Juarez, Mexico, are investigating a shooting at a tortilla shop that left four men dead and two others injured.
All but one of the victims – a worker at the shop – were related and having a meeting at the business when they were attacked; all were adult males, police told Border Report news partner ProVideo.
Witnesses told police the attackers drove up in two vehicles to the shop in the Heroes de la Revolucion neighborhood at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, went in, started shooting and drove off.
Chihuahua Deputy Attorney General Carlos Manuel Salas said the investigation is ongoing but it appears the Soto family that owned the tortilla shop was targeted for yet-unspecified reasons.
The quadruple murder was part of a violent 24-hour period between Monday night and Tuesday in which 12 homicides were reported in Juarez. The city has now recorded 56 murders in October.
