EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 25-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after “violently” assaulting his brother, who had to be airlifted with serious injuries earlier this month in Deming, according to the Sixth Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Manuel Carrazco Jr., 25, was charged with kidnapping in the first degree, attempted second-degree murder, and tampering with evidence. He is being held without bond, according to the DA’s Office.

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the Deming Police Department received a report from Carrazco’s mother, stating Carrazco arrived at her home covered in blood. Carrazco told his mother that he had been drinking at his brother’s house “when a violent altercation occurred,” the DA’s Office said.
Officers and Carrazco’s mother then went to the brother’s residence, located along the 1600 block of Gold Avenue. When officers arrived at the home, they spoke with the brother’s girlfriend and obtained permission to enter the residence.
According to the DA’s Office, officers saw a “significant amount of blood” in the hallway and master bedroom.
The girlfriend then provided officers with the brother’s cell phone, which had access to the home’s exterior security camera footage. The footage showed Carrazco “dragging his unconscious and visibly battered” brother into the yard, the DA’s Office said.
Officers later located Carrazco at his mother’s home and arrested him.
Later, Deming Police and the Luna County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Hermanas Grade SW and Doña Ana Road SW on reports of a bleeding man.
The brother was found alive but sustained multiple injuries, including a swollen face, a possible skull fracture, and trauma to his right ear.
Emergency first responders treated him at the scene, and he was then airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso, where he remains “in serious and stable condition,” the DA’s office said.
Carrazco’s vehicle was found parked in the driveway of his brother’s home. Carrazco’s father told officers that he had found a handgun under the seat. The gun was not discharged, but is believed to have been used in the assault. The gun was recovered, and the vehicle was impounded for further investigation.
