EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department (EPPD) has identified the victim who died in a shooting on Sunday morning, Nov. 2, in an apartment complex in East El Paso, and the suspect arrested in connection with the incident.
Shortly before 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, EPPD responded to a shooting at the 7900 block of Viscount, La Estancia apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers located 36-year-old Miguel Garcia dead outside an apartment on the second floor. After officers canvased the area, they located a subject at 1100 Sunmount matching the description of the shooter, later identified as 21-year-old Jaeveyin Antonio Porter.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an argument had occurred between Porter and the female who reported the incident. She initially left the apartment but later returned with Garcia, according to EPPD. During this time, Porter shot Garcia and fled the scene, where he was later arrested on Sunmount, EPPD added.
Porter was then booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for murder.
