Posted on November 4, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — The number of people caught crossing the Southwest border illegally hasn’t exceeded 10,000 a month since February.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, border agents have been arresting an average of about 7,200 people a month during that period, which includes an all-time low in July, when only 4,592 people were encountered.

Border arrests see slight bump in September, remain among lowest in years

Figures obtained by NewsNation show that October was no different, with 7,990 border arrests — about 400 fewer than the previous month (8,388).

The Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector led October with 1,740 border arrests, followed by 1,600 in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.
