EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Emergency crews responded to two separate vehicle crashes reported in El Paso Wednesday afternoon.
The most recent crash, described as a “multi-casualty incident,” occurred just before 3 p.m. along U.S. 54 at Cassidy Gate, near Fort Bliss. Footage from the scene showed several heavily damaged vehicles along the northbound lanes.
According to the El Paso Fire Department, seven people were injured in the crash. One patient sustained a Level 2 medical condition, while six others were classified as Level 3. Fire officials said aerial support was requested to take patients, who were considered to be in critical condition, to area hospitals. Emergency responders remained on the scene assessing those injured.
El Paso police confirmed four vehicles were involved in the crash.
As of now, U.S. 54 northbound near Cassidy Gate remains closed as crews clear the area of debris.
Earlier, at 2:47 p.m., a rollover accident at the intersection of Chelsea Street and Gateway West was reported. Video posted online showed a gray pickup truck on its side.
El Paso Fire officials confirmed no injuries were reported in that incident. The El Paso Police Department is handling the investigation.
