KTSM News – El Paso gun store shares thoughts on Charlie Kirk Memorial display

Posted on November 6, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A new mural memorializing late Charlie Kirk is catching attention from those driving by the El Paso gun shop along Interstate 10.

The mural is painted outside the building of Gun Central, 6010 Gateway Blvd., near Bassett Place. It features Kirk’s face with the American flag and the word “freedom” on the side of the building.

KTSM 9 News spoke with the gun shop’s manager, Cameron McIntyre, who said the business commissioned an artist to honor Kirk and “the work he did for freedoms.” The artist is the same person who created the “Jesus Saves” mural and paintings of guns also outside the shop’s exterior.

When asked about the community’s mixed reaction to the Kirk memorial, McIntyre said he’d love to have a civil conversation with people to discusses their differences.

“I think Charlie Kirk did a lot of interviews, and he said a lot of things. And I think any time someone talks a lot and you record everything they say, they’re probably going to say some things that you don’t agree with or that you don’t like. And that’s fine. That’s freedom of speech. You can dislike someone’s speech as much as you like someone else’s speech. But I would say it’s really important to maintain our ability to have a civil discussion in this country with people that we disagree with without resorting to violence,” McIntyre added.

McIntyre also said he ignores social media because it’s “pretty much just evil.”

Kirk, 31, was a conservative influencer and co-founder of Turning Point USA, a youth organization. He was assassinated on Sept. 10, while speaking publicly at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
