EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso author has recently published a new book series and is reading to students across the El Paso Independent School District.
Lisa Caprelli, who was born and raised in El Paso and now lives in California, says she gets to travel the world, and she recently got the opportunity to read to students at EPISD.
Caprelli says she just released a new book called “The Flying Taco” that is set in El Paso.
Her new book, “The Flying Taco,” is about a taco that starts in El Paso and flies to other parts of the world.
“The pages start in El Paso, which we did that on purpose to bring love to my heritage and my roots. And then the taco goes to to India as a first location, and then to Japan then to France and then to Africa and I want to invoke creativity and imagination to children that they can learn. That there’s so many cultures outside of El Paso,” Caprelli said.
Caprelli says she’s always been a shy person and that she found her voice through writing, and it became a talent.
Caprelli also says that reading, teachers, and her librarian changed her life with books.
Caprelli also has another book series called “Bee-ing Happy,” which features a unicorn.
According to Caprelli’s website, since 2020, she has donated over 10,000 books to children’s charities and hospitals, and her inspired school author visit program has reached over 800,000 students.
