EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An early-morning shooting on Saturday, Nov. 8 left one person dead and another injured in Las Cruces, police there said.
The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Whisky Dicks, 101 E. Union Ave.
Las Cruces Police and Fire responded to reports of shots fired with injuries.
When they arrived, police learned that two men — ages 28 and 37 — got into a fight in the parking lot. At some point, the 37-year-old armed himself with a gun and shot at least one round that struck the 28-year-old, police said.
Police said an unknown person then shot the 37-year-old before fleeing from the area.
Both shooting victims were taken to the hospital. The 28-year-old man died from his injuries, and the 37-year-old remains hospitalized and is in custody, Las Cruces Police said.
Police are still trying to identify the person who shot the 37-year-old suspect and fled from the crime scene.
Deputies from the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the immediate aftermath of this incident.
