Posted on December 4, 2023

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 15-year-old boy has died after a ‘hunting accident’ several miles North of Presidio, Texas, according to the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office says at around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Dec. 3, they responded to a call regarding a hunting accident.

The Sheriff’s Office says a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in the chest while preparing rifles to go hunting in a well-known hunting area West of Highway 67.

Family members transported the 15-year-old boy to Marfa, Texas, and were escorted by deputies. They met with the Marfa ambulance which then traveled to Alpine Big Bend Regional Medical Center.

The 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Sheriff’s Office adds the family was on their yearly hunting trip to Presidio County and names were not given with respect to the family.

The case was referred to the Texas Rangers for further investigation.
