El Paso Matters will be adding news coverage from the Associated Press starting in April, expanding the information available to its readers.
The AP Fund for Journalism recently announced that 50 newsrooms, including El Paso Matters, have been added to its local news program, doubling the number of newsrooms in the project.
In announcing the expansion, the AP Fund for Journalism said participating newsrooms receive access to nonpartisan, factual public service journalism – including elections coverage – from the Associated Press.
The participating newsrooms also can share some of their content through the Associated Press distribution network.
“Being part of this network means we can bring our readers more news — from trusted Associated Press reporting to the original local journalism our team produces every day,” El Paso Matters Editor Cindy Ramirez said.
“While access to AP content will help us broaden our coverage, our focus and priority remain on producing in-depth local stories that most impact El Pasoans,” she added.
