Reader photos from Big BendWith its breathtaking vistas, looming mountainsides, and vast skies overhead, the Big Bend area has a way of making Texans—and the hundreds of thousands of visitors that the remote far West Texas region receives each year—feel wonderfully small.It’s also, as senior writer Forrest Wilder reported in February, “one of the most remote, unpopulated places in the continental U.S.—a hot, arid landscape that defies human existence.” Wilder reflected on the area’s dangers (extreme temperatures, water scarcity, and unscalable canyons) in detailing the Trump administration’s plans to build about 175 miles of border wall through the region, including segments that would pass through its beloved national park and state park.
