The A’s may be on their way to Las Vegas, but the fat lady isn’t ready to sing on baseball in the city of Oakland just yet. In May 2024, the Oakland Ballers will debut as the newest franchise in the independent Pioneer Baseball League (PBL). The Ballers — or B’s — are the first franchise on the West Coast for the 12-team PBL, which debuted in 1939 and is an official MLB partner league.
The franchise will be introduced at a press conference at the Oakland Estuary on Tuesday at 11 a.m. PT. Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao is expected to be among those in attendance.
