Border Report – 1 person hurt, transported during ‘special rescue’ near Downtown El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person was injured and transported to a local hospital in what the El Paso Fire Department is calling a “special rescue” Saturday morning, July 5 near Downtown El Paso.

The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. at East Seventh Avenue and South Park Street in the Segundo Barrio neighborhood. One person was transported Code 1 (non-life-threatening injuries), a Fire Department spokesman said.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesman said that the Border Patrol Confined Spaces Entry Team rescued a woman from Mexico from the El Paso sewer system. She had a leg injury and was taken into custody, the spokesman said.
