McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — A Mexican believed to be a member of the reputed Cartel de Noreste was arrested in the border town of Laredo, Texas, according to reports.
Laredo Police on Friday confirmed to Border Report that Jesus Alexander Ramirez was encountered near a supermarket on Oct. 29 in Laredo. However, the police do not have arrest records on him because Border Patrol then took him into custody.
The Laredo Morning Times on Thursday reported that Ramirez was a member of the Cartel del Noreste, a transnational criminal organization that is responsible for trafficking drugs and humans across the border into South Texas.
A Border Patrol official said they do not have any more information on the arrest.
An incident report with Laredo police shows they turned Ramirez over to Border Patrol.
