SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the San Ysidro Port of Entry seized more than a ton of narcotics worth millions of dollars during the month of July .
According to CBP, officers confiscated a combined total of 2,627 pounds of illegal drugs in 50 separate incidents involving drivers who were trying to bring the contraband into the U.S.
The drugs impounded included 174 pounds of fentanyl, 18.24 pounds of heroin, 169.5 pounds of cocaine and 2,266 pounds of methamphetamine.

Suspects involved in these incidents were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
“CBP Officers will continue to use their skill sets and knowhow to intercept illegal and illicit narcotics that are encountered at the Port of Entry,” said Mariza Marin, Port Director for the San Ysidro Port of Entry. “Our staff is fully invested in safeguarding the American people from these harmful substances and demonstrate the highest levels of service to our nation through their extraordinary efforts each and every day.”
