Border Report – Dozens of bodies found inside building in Juarez

Posted on June 27, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Authorities cordoned off a property where they reported finding dozens of bodies on Friday in Juarez, Mexico.

The structure behind tall cinder-block walls sits on the corner of Queretaro and Chihuahua streets in far south Juarez. Police at the scene told Border Report news partner ProVideo the property may have housed an unidentified funeral home’s crematorium but it was not clear if they had a permit to operate.

As many as 50 bodies might be inside, authorities said Friday.

Chihuahua Attorney General Cesar Jauregui late Friday morning said the investigation began after Juarez municipal police officers saw someone take a body out of a vehicle and go into the building.

“They called the state police and forensic services. The two bodies in the vehicle had documentation. There was no foul play involved,” Jauregi told local news media.

He said one of the owners was in police custody but told authorities he could produce documentation that the business was lawful.

This is a developing story.
