Border Report – DPS: 11 migrants found in van, driver arrested during traffic stop

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Eleven undocumented migrants were discovered and the driver was arrested for alleged human smuggling during a traffic stop Monday, Sept. 2 along Interstate 10 in El Paso, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

At about 3 p.m. Monday, a state trooper pulled over a van for speeding along I-10 East near Milepost 17, DPS said. That is the exit for Executive Center.


Driver facing human smuggling charge, 1 migrant hurt in crash

Eleven migrants were discovered inside the van and they were released to Border Patrol for processing.

The driver, identified as 40-year-old Jorge Alberto Quintana Puga, was arrested for smuggling of persons, DPS said.

The investigation is continuing.
