The South Texas border town of Laredo is taking extra precautions after a case of New World screwworm was found in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, just across the Rio Grande. Laredo Mayor Victor Treviño said Saturday that every animal entering the city’s public animal shelter is now being inspected for cuts, wounds, abrasions and any signs of infestation from the New World screwworm.
