Posted on August 29, 2025

SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — After meeting with Federation Internationale de Football Association’s (FIFA) president, Gianni Infantino, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced she will be giving away a ticket to one lucky fan for the 2026 inaugural match to be held in Mexico City on June 11.

She made the announcement during her daily news conference Friday morning.

“I’m thinking of giving the ticket to a young girl who likes soccer and wouldn’t have an opportunity to come to the stadium,” Sheinbaum said.

Mexico will host next year’s World Cup along with Canada and the United States.
