Border Report – More than 385 pounds of meth seized over four-day period at this port of entry

Posted on October 24, 2025

ANDRADE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the Andrade Port of Entry seized more than 385 pounds of methamphetamine over a four-day period, stopping two major drug smuggling attempts along California’s border with Mexico.

According to CBP officials, the seizures took place on Sept. 26 and Sept. 29, resulting in the discovery of a combined 408 packages of meth, worth more than $482,000.

First seizure

On Sept. 26, officers encountered a traveler applying for entry into the U.S. With the help of a CBP canine team, officers conducted a vehicle inspection and discovered 219 packages of meth hidden inside the car’s door panels, rear seats, gas tank, trunk, and spare tire. The narcotics weighed more than 239 pounds.

Comment from CBP officials

Calexico Port Director Roque Caza praised the officers for their diligence.

“The Andrade Port of Entry exemplifies the vital role every border crossing plays in ensuring the safety and security of our nation,” he stated. “Through steadfast enforcement efforts, we protect our communities and uphold the integrity of our borders.”

While Andrade is one of the smallest land ports along the California-Mexico border, CBP says its officers play a crucial role in stopping narcotics from entering the U.S. The port processes fewer travelers than larger crossings, but enforcement efforts remain strong and consistent.

Officials with CBP’s San Diego Field Office are encouraging the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity to help disrupt narcotics trafficking operations and keep communities safe.
