McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — Officials placed concrete barriers to divert traffic away from drainage construction at an international bridge on Thursday in Laredo, Texas.
The temporary barrier was put at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge to help facilitate northbound traffic flow, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said. It will funnel traffic from four lanes to two and will be up for possibly three weeks.
“CBP is funneling traffic into the westernmost two lanes in the approach to the construction project area and then back out to all primary booths to help facilitate the traffic flow northbound at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge while this drainage replacement project remains ongoing,” Laredo Port Director Albert Flores said.
Flores urges travelers to allow extra time when coming from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
“We ask for the public’s patience in advance. Please build extra time into your travel schedules and please exercise caution while driving through the area,” he said.
