ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Police say more than 17 pounds of marijuana, thousands of marijuana cigarettes, hundreds of THC vapes and more illegal products were seized from an Abilene CBD shop during a recent raid.
Officers executed a search warrant at CBD House of Healing on Catclaw Drive Saturday during an investigation into Possession of a Controlled Substance: Tetrahydrocannabinol.
The search warrant states an undercover officer went into the business in June and purchased a vape and then tested this vape using Type Y Typicfication, which is a test that tells the difference between hemp (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This test, according to the documents, did return positive for THC.
In July, the Abilene Police Department then sent a letter to CBD House of Healing explaining they were violating Texas Health and Safety Code Section 481.113 as well as zoning violations under the City of Abilene Land Development Code by selling what the search warrant states are, “THC products and drug paraphernalia.”
The vape purchased by the undercover officer was sent for further testing at a state lab, and the documents state the results, which were returned August 14, showed the vape contained Delta 9 Tetrahydrocannainol at a percentage greater than 1%, which is higher than the less than .3 percent allowed under the 2018 Hemp Bill.
Officers then executed a search warrant at CBD House of Healing following these test results August 23 and took the following items from the business:
- 17.5 pounds of marijuana
- 3580 pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes
- 191 THC vapes
- 400 THC vape cartridges
- 28 jars of marijuana shake
- 147 containers of wax/shatter
- 538 containers of THC gummies
- 137 cans of Cannadip
- 15 containers of THC diamonds
- 12 bottles of THC Elixir
- 10 packages of THC popcorn
- Various THC candy and edibles
- Business documents
- Training manuals
- $1,176.52 US Currency
No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
CBD House of Healing’s Attorney, Chaile Allen, says that during the raid, she was denied access to her client and that this is a huge violation of his constitutional rights.
She has since resigned from her appointed position as Associate Judge for Abilene’s Municipal Court as a result of the raid and this alleged violation.
Abilene police have yet to respond to KTAB and KRBC’s request for comment on this ongoing coverage.
