EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – One of the top leaders of the Sinaloa cartel criminal organization in the state of Chihuahua was arrested this week in Juarez, the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office said on Thursday, Feb. 13.
The AG’s Office said Humberto Rivera, also known as “El Chato,” “El Don,” and “El Viejón,” 51, was arrested on Thursday near the Fray Junípero Serra Street and Valle de Juarez Avenue in the San Lorenzo neighborhood of Juarez.
Rivera was a priority target of the FBI for being a top leader of the Sinaloa cartel. He was also the “right arm” of Gabino Salas Valenciano’s, also known as “El Ingeniero,” who was killed by federal forces in 2015, the AG’s Office said.
At the time of his arrest, he was found with several identifications under the name of Victor Cruz, and he had cocaine, the AG’s Office said.
