Texas and federal officials are working together to quickly contain the New World screwworm after the flesh-eating parasite was detected in a calf in La Pryor, roughly 100 miles southwest of San Antonio. It marks the first confirmed case on the Texas side of the U.S. – Mexico border in roughly six decades.
