Border Report – Woman admits to delivering 29 kilos of meth to undercover agents

Posted on July 3, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – An El Paso woman pleaded guilty to delivering 29 kilos of high-grade methamphetamine to undercover federal agents in the parking lot of two businesses in Sunland Park, New Mexico.

Records show Veronica Herrera on Tuesday admitted that an unidentified individual in Mexico on three occasions between Jan. 24 and Feb. 20, 2025, told her to deliver the drugs to a “buyer” in that New Mexico community just across the state line from El Paso.

Duo allegedly sold 29 kilos of ‘100% pure’ meth to undercover agents

Herrera took the drugs to the parking lot of an auto parts store on McNutt Drive on two occasions and once to the parking lot of a local racetrack, court records show. The methamphetamine undercover agents seized during those transactions totaled 29.1 kilos.

The DEA found an additional 873.4 grams of meth in Herrera’s apartment in El Paso, the woman admitted in court as part of a plea-bargain agreement with federal prosecutors.

Herrera was facing a sentence of 10 years to life in prison if the case had gone to trial and she was found guilty. Records show she waved indictment and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy and three counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
