Canutillo Independent School District Trustee Blanca Trout resigned from her position Monday and will be withdrawing from the Nov. 5 election citing personal reasons, according to a press release from the district.
“There are things in my family that (are) calling my attention now,” Trout told El Paso Matters Monday.
Trout was first elected to the Canutillo ISD school board in 2016 and served two four-year terms. She was running for reelection as one of 10 candidates vying for four at-large spots on the board.
Though Trout is no longer running for re-election, her name will still appear on the ballot. Candidates have until the 74th day before election day, which was on Aug. 23, to officially withdraw their name.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
