El Paso Matters – Chihuahuas, Karol G, Godsmack headline a packed Labor Day weekend in El Paso

Labor Day weekend brings a packed slate of events to the El Paso area, with baseball, major concerts, festivals, church kermeses and end-of-summer attractions filling the calendar from Friday through Monday.

The El Paso Chihuahuas continue a holiday weekend homestand at Southwest University Park, while Karol G brings two nights of her Tropicoqueta Tour to Sun Bowl Stadium. The weekend also includes a free Godsmack concert at Speaking Rock, The Market EP in Downtown El Paso and the Harvest Wine and Music Festival in Las Cruces.

Several area churches will hold traditional kermeses, and families can take advantage of the holiday weekend at Western Playland or catch the final days of Wet N’ Wild Waterworld’s 2026 season.

El Paso Chihuahuas Labor Day Weekend Homestand

The El Paso Chihuahuas will continue their Labor Day weekend homestand with three games against the Las Vegas Aviators at Southwest University Park. The weekend features Matachines Night and a Matachines hat giveaway Friday, Almost to Halloween Night on Saturday and Kids Run the Bases following Sunday’s series finale.

Karol G: Tropicoqueta Tour

Colombian singer Karol G will bring her Tropicoqueta Tour to El Paso, with two stadium shows at Sun Bowl Stadium during Labor Day weekend. The stop is part of a global tour that includes major U.S. and international venues. Becky G will be the guest performer at both shows.

Paid parking opens at 10 a.m. (cards only); merchandise stands open at 2 p.m.; VIP check-in at 4:15 p.m. at north gate only; general doors open at 5 p.m. at north, south and east gate entrances. Clear bag policy strictly enforced. Only reusable plastic water bottles are allowed and can be refilled at water stations throughout the stadium; metal tumblers are prohibited.

The Market EP

The Market EP continues marking its 15th anniversary at San Jacinto Plaza in Downtown El Paso. The market, held on select Saturdays, features live music and local artisans and gives visitors an opportunity to shop from and support area small businesses.

Godsmack at Speaking Rock

Hard rock band Godsmack will bring its Rise of Rock World Tour to Speaking Rock Entertainment Center with special guest Dorothy. The free outdoor concert is open to guests 21 and older, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Harvest Wine and Music Festival

Viva Vino’s Harvest Wine and Music Festival will return to Las Cruces over Labor Day weekend with three days of New Mexico wines, live music, food trucks and shopping from more than 50 local artisans. Festivalgoers can sample more than 200 wines from New Mexico wineries, with wines also available by the glass, bottle or case.

Hatch Chile Festival

The annual Hatch Chile Festival will celebrate the crop that has made Hatch, New Mexico, known as the “Chile Capital of the World.” The Labor Day weekend festival features chile, food and craft vendors, live music, an auction and other activities, with a parade kicking off the festivities Saturday morning.

Kermes schedule

St. Anthony’s Seminary Bazaar

St. Anthony’s Seminary will hold its annual Labor Day weekend bazaar, a three-day community tradition benefiting the formation of Franciscan friars. The event will feature live music, carnival games, raffles and food including homemade gorditas, enchiladas, elote, churros and aguas frescas.

St. Mark Catholic Church Kermés

St. Mark Catholic Church’s annual Kermés features three days of live music, Mexican food, lotería, games, crafts, drinks and local vendors. The community celebration runs Friday through Sunday, with festivities continuing until midnight each night.

Immaculate Heart of Mary 

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Canutillo will host its annual kermes Sept. 4-6. The three-day community celebration will run Friday evening through Sunday, with festivities continuing until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Labor Day Weekend at Western Playland

Western Playland will be open throughout Labor Day weekend, giving families a chance to close out the summer holiday with roller coasters, thrill rides, kiddie rides and other attractions. The 25-acre amusement park in Sunland Park will operate on a different schedule each day of the holiday weekend.

Wet N’ Wild Waterworld Labor Day Weekend

Wet N’ Wild Waterworld will close its 2026 this weekend, offering visitors access to its water slides, pools and other attractions. The Anthony water park will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday before closing an hour earlier on Labor Day.

El Paso Water Parks

El Paso’s four city water parks will be open throughout Labor Day weekend, offering slides, lazy rivers, children’s pools and other aquatic attractions for an end-of-summer outing. All four parks will operate Saturday through Monday before winding down their 2026 seasons on varying dates in September.
