915 Day
Celebrations of El Paso’s unique, binational culture will commence throughout the area Sunday, Sept. 15, as the city marks 915 Day, an homage to the area code that identifies the Sun City:
• The 915 Day Market with Johnny Kage will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mesa Plaza, 7930 N. Mesa, in front of Hobby Lobby. Hosted by the Upper Valley Artist & Farmers Market, the event will feature local vendors, street food, live art performances and giveaways. Visitors can enjoy a vibrant community atmosphere while supporting local businesses and artisans. The market is open to the public.
• Chuco Relic’s 915 Day Celebration is scheduled from 3 to 10 p.m. The event will feature live music, a silent disco, and a showcase of local vendors offering handmade art, crafts and food. Attendees can enjoy El Paso’s Local Eats and try Old Sheepdog Brewery’s exclusive 915 Day lager, brewed for the occasion.
• Celebrate local businesses and talent at 915 Day hosted by The Dusty Tap, 10297 Socorro Road. The all-day event, starting at 11 a.m., will feature local breweries, vendors, and live music. Whiskey River Band is scheduled to perform at 5 p.m. The event is open to the public.
El Paso Chihuahuas Home Finale
The El Paso Chihuahuas play their final home game of the 2024 Pacific Coast League season against the Salt Lake Bees at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Southwest University Park. Fans can enjoy day baseball and special promotions, including a Kids Day with $5 meal deals and a post-game opportunity for children ages 12 and younger to run the bases. ¡Vivamos México! Official Grito Celebration
Downtown El Paso will be the locale for the Vivamos México! Official Grito Celebration from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza. This free, family-friendly event will mark Mexico’s Independence Day with music and entertainment across indoor and outdoor stages. The free, all-ages event will also include a lucha stage, kids’ rides, food and fireworks.
Brew at the Zoo
Brew at the Zoo returns Saturday, Sept. 14, at the El Paso Zoo, 4001 E. Paisano Drive, offering a night of craft beer, live music and games in support of wildlife conservation. With over 20 breweries and more than 100 craft beers to sample, guests can enjoy activities such as mechanical bull riding, ax-throwing, and a hippo chow-down, alongside stilt walkers and local vendors. General admission begins at 7 p.m., with premium ticket holders enjoying early entry at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $75, and attendees must be age 21 or older. In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Centro De Salud Familiar La Fe will host an author reading featuring award-winning El Paso author Benjamin Alire Sáenz as part of its Café Quetzalcoatl Cultural-Arts Series. The event will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the La Fe Culture and Technology Center, 721 S. Ochoa St., with free admission and parking. Water Festival 2024
Residents are invited to learn about the importance of water during Water Festival 2024, taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the El Paso Water TecH2O Center, 10751 Montana Ave. This free, family-friendly event will feature hands-on activities, live music and performances, as well as interactive demonstrations that explore water’s role in our lives. Attendees can enjoy arts and crafts, chalk creations, and a workshop with local artists, while also picking up water-saving incentives. Food trucks will be on site. All ages are welcome. Wicked Wine Run
La Viña Winery will host the Wicked Wine Run from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Participants can choose between a 1K or 5K run, or both, through scenic vineyards at the winery located at 4201 Highway 28 in Anthony, New Mexico. The event welcomes all fitness levels and encourages participants to engage in physical activity while sampling local food and wines, listening to live music, and playing games. Wilderness Day
Celebrate Wilderness Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at the El Paso Museum of Archaeology. 4301 Woodrow Bean Transmountain Drive. Join in a morning of outdoor activities including hikes, yoga and interactive exhibits presented by local organizations such as Live Active, Frontera Land Alliance and Border Mountain Bike Association.
