El Paso Matters – El Paso Events this week: Neon Pop Party, Jazz Around Town, July Fourth fireworks and parades

Here’s a roundup of some culture and civic events in the borderland in the coming week.

Neon Pop Party at Oasis Water Park

Get ready to glow during the Neon Pop Party from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Oasis Waterpark, 13501 Jason Crandall Drive. Residents on the far East Side will be treated to swimming and glow-in-the-dark entertainment along with performances from DJ Jammin’ Manny, RoboTron and AM Ballroom’s Michael Jackson impersonator. Tickets are available for $18. Information: epwaterparks.com 

Jazz Around Town Music Series

The Jazz Exchange’s Jazz Around Town music series continues this week from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Garrison, 420 E. San Antonio Ave. The free, all ages event is part of an initiative geared toward enriching the cultural fabric of El Paso through the support of local businesses and providing a stage for local artists. The Jazz Exchange partners with the Garrison and Mountain Star Brewery to host a variety of live jazz events. Information: thejazzexchange.com

Fourth of July Celebrations

The Shoppes at Solana will host a Fourth of July Market and Firework Show from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the shopping center, 750 Sunland Park Drive. Attendees can enjoy live music, unique vendors, a variety of food trucks, and games and activities for all ages. The evening will culminate in the venue’s first firework display. 

Other July Fourth Events:

• El Paso Del Norte Lions Club 4th of July East Side People’s Parade: 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4, intersection of Montwood and Lee Treviño drives. Free.

• Rotary Club of West El Paso Independence Day Parade: 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4, intersection of Shadow Mountain Drive and Mesa Street. Free.

• Fourth of July at Ascarate Park: 3-11 p.m. Thursday, July 4, Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta Drive. Fireworks show begins at approximately 9:20 p.m. Parking fee is $5. 

• Pop Goes the Fort: 4 p.m. Thursday, July 4, Biggs Park, 11388 Sergeant Major Blvd., Fort Bliss. Performances by the 1st Armored Division Band and the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. Free.
