El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – ARENA QUESTION GOING BACK TO THE VOTERS!

Posted on August 13, 2024

[[{“value”:”

The City Council just voted 5-3 to send the Arena question back to the voters, giving them the opportunity to defund the project and avoid a huge tax increase.

Rep. Cassandra Hernandez, nearly in tears, pleaded with her colleagues to proceed with building an MPC in downtown but the Mayor made clear that the voters were misled, with Rep. Joe Molinar affirming they were “lied to.” Her arguments were completely hollow.

Rep. Salcido, based on her comments and her recent actions on City Council, his slipped back into Cassandra’s camp. She mumbled something about not supporting this item because of a lack of transparency, which is absurd. We had hopes that she had changed but she is still clearly “one of them.”

Rep. Acevedo opposes demolishing Duranguito for an arena but nevertheless found some reason to join with Hernandez and Salcido in their dissent

Today, liberty has triumphed.

The voters will get to decide what to do and this time they will be provided with accurate information.
