El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – CARBAJAL TAKES AIM AT GROSSMAN

Posted on October 2, 2026

Four days ago, former mayoral candidate Veronica Carbajal took aim at Max Grossman of the El Paso Taxpayer Revolt with a series of defamatory claims. Grossman and Carbajal were long-time allies in the fight to save the Union Plaza neighborhood from demolition for a multipurpose basketball arena but parted ways over political differences.

Carbajal, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, ran for Mayor in 2020 and came in third with 21.7% of the vote, after Oscar Leeser and Dee Margo.

Soon after, she was appointed to the Board of Managers of University Medical Center and in 2022 voted for a certificate of obligation in the amount of $400 million, circumventing the taxpayers.

Carbajal was one of the primary backers of Proposition K, the climate charter initiative that would have had a destructive impact on our local economy. It was rejected by 77% of El Paso voters on May 6, 2023, but some months later Carbajal told the El Paso Chamber of Commerce in an interview, “Honestly, I don’t think Prop K went far enough.”

She ran for City District 2 against Joshua Acevedo in 2023 but caused an uproar when she began publicly accusing Israel of genocide only weeks after the October 7 massacre, as if that had anything to do with serving on City Council. She got 44.4% of the vote and again lost.

Since that time, Carbajal has remained engaged in local politics, fighting for social justice against the forces of evil.

ATTACKS THE “ZIONIST, MAX GROSSSMAN”

In a Facebook post four days ago, she went on offense against Grossman for no apparent reason: “Unbeknownst to me, local candidates in El Paso have met with Zionist, Max Grossman for his Taxpayer Revolt.”

She falsely claims Grossman called Palestinians “vermin” and that he “proudly supports funding a genocide.” She alleges she received “veiled threats” as a result of her pro-Palestinian activism and that a homeowner approached her with a holstered gun, as if Grossman were somehow involved.

Though a licensed attorney, she defames Grossman with her claim that his ex-girlfriend “obtained a protective order against him” in 2025, which is completely false. She non-suited her application for protective order, which was never granted.

Carbajal would be wise to correct herself immediately.

It is unfortunate she behaves so viciously when addressing people who disagree with her politics and that she is so obsessed with Zionists, who believe Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people.

For the record, Grossman does not advocate on international issues on his public social media platforms, as his focus is and always has been our local taxing entities.

While he welcomes debate and criticism, he will defend himself against defamation or libel and seek relief in the courts if necessary.
