El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – COMMISSIONER CORONADO RECEIVES CONTRIBUTIONS FROM HUNT AND FRIENDS, PREPARES FOR REELECTION CAMPAIGN

Posted on April 7, 2025

[[{“value”:”

Commissioner Sergio Coronado has been in office only 27 months but has already managed to vote for $894 million in GO bonds (of which the voters approved $552 million) and a CO in the amount of $54 million, burdening the taxpayers with more than $1.1 billion in principal and interest.

He voted to increase his salary 16.2%, from $114,901 to $133,500, after less than eight months in office!

We were hoping he would understand that he cannot be possibly reelected, especially given the high proportion of fiscal conservatives in Precinct 4, but then we saw on today’s Consent Agenda that he reported contributions from Woody and Gayle Hunt ($2,500), Javier Torresday ($3,000), Rick Francis ($2,500), Richard Aguilar ($2,500), and Steve Fox ($2,500).

All five contributions were received on March 25, indicating there must have been a fundraiser for the commissioner. Since only contributions of $2,500 or more must be reported on County agendas, we feel certain that he raised quite a bit more than the $13,000 he indicated.

That’s not a bad haul for a guy who consistently votes to sink us financially.
