El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – COUNTY COMMISSIONER CANDIDATES GO ON THE RECORD

Posted on April 2, 2026

Yesterday our own Max Grossman, Chief Instigator of the El Paso Taxpayer Revolt, was hosted by George Saenz at a dinner meeting of building contractors and other professionals who wanted to learn about taxation, bonds, and deficits.

Several political candidates for the El Paso Commissioners Court were present so Grossman took advantage of the situation and invited Matt Sistrunk (R) and Miguel Teran (D), who are competing for Commissioner of Precinct 2, to answer four questions:

1. Do you promise to never raise taxes?

2. Do you promise to never increase your own salary?

3. Do you promise to never issue non-voter-approved debt?

4. Do you promise never to commit public money to the Debt Plaza?

Without hesitation, both candidates answered “yes” to all four questions on video.

Grossman then texted the same four questions to Leo Arcos (R) and Annette Griego (D), who are candidates for Commissioner of Precinct 4, and both immediately answered “yes” to all four questions.

If the winning candidates keep these promises, Commissioner Iliana Holguin will have excellent partners on the Commissioners Court come January, the fiscal conservatives will hold a majority, and the County spending binge will finally come to an end.
