El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – EL PASO FIRE DEPARTMENT REJECTS CITY’S PROPOSAL FOR $43 MILLION INCREASE

On July 15, we reported that the union representing El Paso firefighters was demanding an additional $56 million over the next four fiscal years.

Adam Powell of the El Paso Times is reporting that the union rejected the City’s latest offer, which would have provided $7.7 million in additional funding next fiscal year plus $11.7 million for each of the three fiscal years after that, for a total of $43 million.

We all love and appreciate our firefighters but this time their union has gone too.

If they fail to negotiate a new contract with the City, the matter of Fire Department funding will be placed before the voters.
