It has been a long time since we shared a report from El Paso Matters, which we consider to be politically compromised.

However, we feel this particular report by Elisa S. Perez is excellent and should be read by all our followers.

Here we learn about the City’s fraudulent “expanded exemption,” which saves the elderly and disabled only $1.59/month, not enough to buy a basic cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Again, City Manager Mack talks about a “flat budget” for FY 2026 even though it includes an average tax increase of $104.

And again, Laura Cruz-Acosta, the City’s Strategic Communications Director, tries to deceive the taxpaying public with her bullshit.

Perez is an experienced journalist and her report is thorough and factual but she omits the Mayor’s repeated promises during his election campaign to lower our property tax.
