Fabiola Campos-Lopez worked for some years at the Texas Department of Human Services and is now Chair of the non-profit “El Paso Neighborhood Coalition.” She feels this qualifies her to make decisions about a $1.3 billion municipal budget.
We never paid much attention to her because her opponents Lily Limón and Chris Hernandez are running much stronger campaigns–that is, until we saw her 8-Day Campaign Finance Report this morning.
She raised $9,575 during the last reporting period, including $1,000 from Edward Escudero, $500 from Miguel Fernandez, $2,500 from Rick Francis, $1,000 from Ted Houghton, and $2,500 from Woody Hunt.
Much like vendido Joshua Acevedo, who is running for reelection to represent District 2, Fabiola Campos-Lopez has sold out to special interests and, if elected, will vote for large capital improvement projects, increased deficit spending, higher taxation, and more corporate welfare.
She will vote in this way as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow morning because campaign contributions from these individuals are a perfect predictor of future policy priorities, with no exceptions.
She will be another Henry Rivera.
We have endorsed Lily Limón for City Council and hope the voters of District 7 will cast their ballots for her.
